Management of the University, led by the Acting Vice-Chancellor, Professor Shaykh-Luqman Jimoh, on Tuesday, September 5, 2023, approved the School Fees Relief Grant as part of the strategies to further cushion the effect of the subsidy removal on staff.
A general circular announcing the guidelines, which was signed by the Registrar of the University, Dr. Kikelomo W. Sallee states that following the presentation of the report of the committee set up to make recommendations to Management on November 21, 2023, the institution immediately commenced implementation. Part of the guidelines stated in the circular is that only biological children of confirmed staff, who are pursuing undergraduate and regular degree programmes (including IDEL regular and Professional Degree Programmes, PDP), are eligible.
It adds that while successful candidates will only benefit from the grant for the normal duration of the programme that they have been admitted for, a staff will only be eligible to make claim to the grant for a maximum number of four (4) children within the entire period of service.
The circular also stated that "Where a staff whose child is enrolled on the School Fees Relief Grant dies, the child will continue to enjoy the grant for the period for which he/she was initially considered. "However, where an employee ceases to be a staff as a result of voluntary resignation, retirement or dismissal, the award will automatically lapse.
