2022 UTME/DE: JAMB REGISTERS 1.8M CANDIDATES


As registration for the 2022 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (JAMB) and Direct Entry (DE) ended on Saturday 26th March 2022, the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) said it registered a total of 1,837,011 candidates registered for the examination.

It would be recalled that the 2022UTME/DE Application for admission to Tertiary Institutions
in Nigeria for the 2022/2023 academic session commenced from Saturday, 19 February, 2022.

A total of 1,338,687 candidates registered for the 2021 UTME. For the 2019 examination, it recorded over 1.8 million candidates, while the total number of applications received in 2018 was 1,653,127 as against 1,722,269 applications received in 2017.

However, as the registration for the 2022 exercise ended on Saturday investigations show that scores of candidates are still left not captured during the period.

Some of the candidates told Daily Independent they had issues with code generation while a handful said they could not raise enough funds to. pay for the registration during the period. of the registration.

The Board had recently explained that it would not extend the ongoing Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, UTME,and Direct Entry registration because it was working on what it described as a “tight schedule.”

The Board insisted that the registration will come to an end on March 26, 2022, as earlier fixed.

JAMB Registrar, Prof Ishaq Oloyede said the board will not extend the exercise because it is working on a tight schedule.

“We are working on a very tight schedule because of the other examination bodies who have their slot and we cannot encroach into the slot of NECO or WAEC or NABTEB. We have a very tight schedule, ” he said.
