ASUU: NANS VOWS TO DISRUPT POLITICAL PARTIES PRIMARIES

The president of the National Association of Nigerian Students, Sunday Asefon, on Sunday, May 1st, declared that no political party in Nigeria will be allowed to hold its conventions to select presidential candidates for the 2023 general elections.

According to Asefon, the association is targeting the two major political parties, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the All Progressive Congress (APC) who have chosen the Federal Capital Territory as the venue for the presidential primaries, in the month of May.

NANS president who made the declaration in a statement made available to newsmen told the political parties to either end the ongoing strike embarked upon by the Academic Staff Union of Universities, or forget about holding any presidential primary in the nation’s capital.

The association said it was surprised by the effrontery and total disrespect of the Minister of State for Education, Emeka Nwajiuba, and the Minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige who have expressed their interest in joining the presidential race under the ruling party, despite the failures of their ministries.

NANS ended by advising the APC and PDP to forget about any political gathering in Abuja or elsewhere except there is a solution to the lingering ASUU strike
