The attention of Management has been drawn to the very sad and unfortunate but avoidable incident that happened on Friday 2nd June 2023 in which one of our students Emmanuel Onyenuforo was drowned In Otamiri River.

He was a student of the Department of Dispensing Opticianry in the School of Industrial & Applied Sciences.

Management commiserates with the immediate family of the deceased, the Students' Union Government, the Department and our esteemed students over this unfortunate incident. However, Management wishes to reiterate with every sense of solemnity that students should adhere strictly to its earlier warnings and advice at various fora on the need for them to refrain from visiting places that would put their lives or academic pursuit in danger.

Furthermore, all students and especially non-indigenes are seriously warned to desist from going to swim in Otamiri River as the consequences for non-adherence to the above warning could be fatal. All Deans and Heads of Departments are, please, requested to bring the contents of this memo to the attention of students under them. To be forewarned is to be forearmed.
