JAMB UNCOVERS 3000 FAKE GRADUATES

The Joint Admissions and Matriculations Board (JAMB) has uncovered a shocking 3,000 cases of fake graduates with illegal certificates across Nigeria. According to JAMB Registrar, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, these individuals never attended a university, yet they possess certificates. Oloyede condemned the illegal admissions by some institutions, calling it an embarrassment to the country. He urged the Committee of Pro-Chancellors of State Universities in Nigeria (COPSUN) to crack down on underhand admissions, which harm the system and the nation's image.

The Board had earlier warned candidates against accepting admissions from institutions without full academic participation. JAMB emphasized that all admissions must be processed through its Central Admission Processing System (CAPS). Any admission outside CAPS is illegal, null, and void. The top five universities with the highest number of illegal admissions are the Universities of Jos, Benue State University, Olabisi Onabanjo University, Kwara State University, and Novena University.

Among polytechnics, Kwara State Polytechnic, Ilorin, topped the list with 45,471 cases, followed by Auchi Polytechnic, Yaba College of Technology, Federal Polytechnic, Oko, and Federal Polytechnic, Nasarawa. JAMB reiterated that candidates who engage in illegal admissions will face consequences. The Board is working to ensure the integrity of the admission process and maintain the standards of tertiary education in Nigeria.
