FEDERAL GOVERNMENT ANNOUNCES SHIFT TO C.B.T FORMAT FOR NATIONAL EXAMINATIONS

The Federal Government has unveiled plans to transition all national examinations to computer-based testing (CBT) by 2027, Eniola Education Consultant gathered.

During the inauguration of the Committee on Improvement of Quality Examinations in Abuja on Thursday, the Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, disclosed the government’s commitment to enhancing examination practices, curbing malpractices, and ensuring fairness across the education sector.

Dr. Alausa emphasized that the shift to CBT would help tackle issues such as examination malpractices, identity theft, and certificate forgery. “By 2027, we aim to achieve 100% computer-based examinations in Nigeria, leveraging technology to standardize processes and ensure integrity,” the minister stated.

The committee, chaired by Prof. Is-haq Oloyede, Registrar of JAMB, is also tasked with addressing challenges like local swapping of candidates during exams and eliminating examination leakages. Certificates issued will include national identification numbers (NIN), photographs, and dates of birth to enhance authenticity.

Prof. Oloyede assured that the committee would work diligently to fulfill its mandate, while the Minister urged stakeholders to adopt technology and innovative strategies to resolve longstanding issues in the education sector.
