LAUTECH STUDENTS STAGE PROTEST OVER LECTURER ABSENCE

Students at the Iseyin campus of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) have staged a protest to demand action over the frequent absence of lecturers and the rising costs of transportation and accommodation.

The Iseyin campus, which houses the College of Agriculture, has been grappling with the issue of lecturers failing to report for classes, as many of them commute from the Ogbomoso campus. Also, students have expressed growing concerns about the increasing financial burden, as transportation and accommodation expenses have surged since their return from the holiday break.

A student, who wished to remain anonymous, shared their frustrations, saying, “We are facing multiple challenges—lecturers are often absent, and the cost of transportation and housing has become unbearable. We urge the state government and university management to take urgent action to resolve these issues.”

The students are also calling for improvements in infrastructure, particularly in the agricultural department, to ensure they can continue their studies without unnecessary hindrances.

The protestors have appealed to the education committee to engage with the university’s leadership and address the situation swiftly.
