OLOYEDE REVEALS OUTSTANDING STUDENTS BELOW 16YRS CAN TAKE UTME

Oloyede Reveals Outstanding Students Below 16yrs Can Take UTME

The Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Introduces New Policy Allowing Genius Candidates Under 16 to Write UTME – Prof. Oloyede

As a distinguished guest, Oloyede, former Vice Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, joined Laolu Akande on Inside Sources, a socio-political programme airing on Channels Television.

He said, “In Nigeria, there are many brilliant students, we have so many excellent people. We are enforcing the 16-year minimum entry into tertiary institutions but some people are saying there are outstanding students. Yes, there are outstanding students but they are just one in a million. “We are saying 16 years is the minimum but if you know you are outstanding, register for outstanding candidacy – that is you are less than 16 years old and outstanding.

“In a shocking trend, over 2,000 underage students, including 10- to 12-year-olds, have registered for the exam in just a few days, with many parents exploiting loopholes to accelerate their children’s education.”

Parents are artificially accelerating their children’s growth by falsifying their age, using means such as age affidavits, rather than allowing them to develop naturally at their own biological pace.

“Parents are seeking to boost their own status by showcasing their child’s accelerated achievements, boasting of having a teenage lawyer or prodigy graduate.”
