The Federal Government has approved the mobilisation of all full-time Higher National Diploma (HND) graduates for the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).
This landmark decision was announced by the Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, in a statement issued on Thursday by the Director of Press and Public Relations at the ministry, Folasade Boriowo.
According to Dr. Alausa, this resolution follows discussions with the Director-General of NYSC, ensuring that only full-time HND graduates are eligible for mobilisation.
Dr. Alausa described the development as a significant breakthrough for full-time HND graduates, who had previously been excluded from the NYSC scheme. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to fairness and inclusivity in the education sector.
“Only those who completed an HND programme on a full-time basis will be mobilised for NYSC,” he stated. “Those who studied through part-time programmes remain ineligible.”
To streamline the process, the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) has been directed to compile and upload the data of all eligible graduates. In line with this, all Polytechnic Rectors have been instructed to ensure proper documentation by submitting graduate details on the newly established HND admission portal.
The new portal will serve as an official database for full-time HND graduates, ensuring proper record-keeping and addressing past mobilisation challenges.
Dr. Alausa urged all qualified graduates to take advantage of this opportunity and proceed with their mobilisation without delay. He assured that the government remains dedicated to promoting equal opportunities for all Nigerian graduates and enhancing their role in national development through the NYSC programme.
