NANS DISMISSES ALLEGATIONS AGAINST LASUED VC

The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Lagos State Chapter, has debunked allegations leveled against the Vice Chancellor of Lagos State University of Education (LASUED), Prof. Bidemi Lafiaji-Okuneye, describing them as baseless and misleading.

Speaking at a press conference held within the institution, the Chairman of NANS Lagos, Abdul-Quadri AbdulRaheem, stated that accusations concerning irregularities in staff salaries, poor welfare conditions, and students being forced to write examinations under pressure were found to be untrue.

According to him, a thorough investigation, including an on-site facility tour, revealed that the allegations were fabricated to tarnish the institution’s reputation. “I personally toured the campus, engaging with staff, students, and key stakeholders, and the findings were clear—the allegations hold no truth. The university has seen remarkable improvements under the leadership of Prof. Lafiaji-Okuneye,” he said.

Highlighting the progress made, AbdulRaheem noted that LASUED has continued to attract investments from prominent figures, including the construction of a modern lecture facility, an ultra-modern e-library, and an architecturally impressive school entrance.

With these developments, NANS Lagos officially passed a vote of confidence in the Vice Chancellor and urged stakeholders and the media to avoid spreading misinformation that could hinder the institution’s progress. “We call on well-meaning Nigerians, education stakeholders, and the media to support LASUED’s continuous development and refrain from lending credence to false narratives,” he concluded.
