University of Ilorin (UNILORIN), has introduced a new system allowing graduates to receive unclaimed certificates through courier service.
Mr. Mansur Alfanla, the university’s registrar, spoke to news outlets on Monday, explaining that this innovation aligns with international best practices. This new system will make it easier for alumni to collect their certificates remotely via courier, marking a significant shift from the previous policy, which did not allow third-party collection.
To collect certificates through the courier service, individuals must submit the following documents:
– The original statement of result
– A court affidavit
– An indemnity form
– A valid international passport (for those living abroad)
For those who prefer to collect their certificates in person, physical collection will continue to be available on campus from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., Monday to Friday.
This development is expected to be particularly beneficial for graduates and alumni living outside Nigeria, providing them with greater convenience in retrieving their certificates.
In a memo dated December 18, 2024, the registrar advised all graduates to collect their certificates before January 17, 2025. Graduates who miss this deadline will incur a fine of ₦3,000 per week for late collection.
