DELSU APPOINTS YOUNGEST PROFESSOR AS DEPUTY VICE-CHANCELLOR

Delta State University (DELSU), Abraka, has appointed Prof. Hilary Owamah as its new Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic). At 42, Owamah is the youngest professor in the institution and the only professor of Civil Engineering.

Currently serving as DELSU’s Director of Academic Planning, Owamah became a professor in October 2022 at the age of 40. His appointment was recommended by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Samuel Asagba, during a Special Senate meeting on February 26, 2025. His tenure is set to begin on March 11, 2025, following the completion of the outgoing Deputy Vice-Chancellor’s term, pending final approval from the Governing Council.

Expressing gratitude for the appointment, Owamah acknowledged the trust placed in him by the Senate and the Vice-Chancellor. He emphasized his commitment to serving the university with dedication and excellence.
