The Federal Government of Nigeria has commenced the payment of the new monthly allowance of N77,000 to corps members. This development comes after months of delay, which was attributed to budgetary issues. According to the Minister of Youth Development, Ayodele Olawande, the government has finalized the payment process, and corps members can expect to receive their new allowance.
Earlier, the Director General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) had assured corps members that the payment would commence in March. The increase in allowance from N33,000 to N77,000 was approved by the Federal Government in September 2024, in line with the National Minimum Wage (Amendment) Act 2024.
