Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto (UDUS), has dismissed three employees for gross misconduct, citing offenses such as result alteration, sexual harassment, and abandonment of duty.
The decision was reached during the university’s 171st regular meeting on March 12, 2025, following an internal review of the allegations against the affected individuals. The institution’s spokesperson, Ismail Mohammed Yauri, confirmed that the dismissal aligns with UDUS’s strict policy against unethical behavior.
According to Yauri, the university has a zero-tolerance approach to actions that compromise academic integrity and the welfare of staff and students. He stated that the dismissed employees have already been officially notified, and the decision stands as a warning to others who might engage in similar misconduct.
UDUS, known for its emphasis on discipline and ethical standards, has taken a firm stance on maintaining order within its academic community. While the university did not disclose the names of those affected, there is speculation among students and staff regarding the identities of the dismissed employees.
The disciplinary action has sparked mixed reactions on campus. Some students commend the university’s firm approach, stating that it reinforces a culture of accountability. Others, however, believe the institution should be more transparent about cases of misconduct to ensure fairness in disciplinary measures.
